What About Lead Cards? Part 1

Many people ask me why we don't emphasize lead cards in the SAC publishing work.  The assumption is that you'll reach more people through lead cards than through cold calls and other methods.  I have philosophical, theological, and practical reasons for preferring methods other than lead cards.

Here I will quickly convey my philosophical and theological objections to emphasis on lead cards.

What if Moses waited for lead cards?  He never would have been God’s emancipator.  His 40 years of ministry was spent leading people against their will to the promised land.  Nobody checked off cards saying they wanted what he had to offer.  Neither Pharoah nor the Israelites were receptive to his ministry.

What if Jeremiah waited for lead cards?  What if Jonah waited for lead cards?  What if Joshua waited for lead cards?  What if Paul waited for lead cards?  What if John the Baptist waited for lead cards?  What if Nathan waited for a lead card to go rebuke David for his sin?

Jesus commanded us to “Go ye into all the world and make disciples,” not “Sit ye and wait upon lead cards.”  Evangelism is active not passive.
