FIRE & FLOOD

Fires and floods are destroying lives and property everywhere. One news report photo that caught my eye was of a library in a Midwestern town that had been flooded. Thousands of books ruined! With so many properties damaged and lives lost, why be so concerned about some wet books?
My mind’s eye saw the thousands of books and magazines at the South Atlantic Conference office destroyed by either fire or flood. Places of worship and administrative buildings are not immune to lightning strikes, fires, and floods.
An insurance settlement can rebuild our offices, but what happens to the 1000s of people that should’ve been prepared for the 2nd coming of Jesus through the literature we let stay on the shelves too long?!
If such a loss of literature leads to the loss of souls, I believe the Lord will find us guilty of criminal neglect in the judgment (Eze. 33:1-9). Have you been faithful in your stewardship of the gospel (1 Cor. 4:1-2)?
