LOW SALES CHECKLIST

LLw $ales þ LisUPart 1

Experiencing a sales slump?
It could be God’s way of getting you to check yourself.

þ  Prayer: The work of God cannot be done without the Spirit and power of God.  There are many things to pray for, but we’ll just name one for now—tact. Consider the following two quotes as you pray that your character defects and manner of speaking will not be a hindrance to others accepting the truth.
o   “Some rash, impulsive, yet honest souls…will accost those who are not with us in a very abrupt manner, and make the truth…repulsive to them…Had the believers in the truth…felt the importance of knowledge and of refinement of manners in Christ's work, where one soul has been saved there might have been twenty.” ~Testimonies, vol. 4, p. 68

o   A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.”
~Proverbs 18:19, KJV

þ  Priority: Jesus said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven…and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Literature evangelism is missionary work of the highest order, when done right. It is mercenary work of the lowest order when done wrong. People can tell when money is your primary motivation. It’s next to impossible to motivate people to buy spiritual literature when they sense your carnal mentality. We must remember a very simple formula for literature evangelists: souls over sales equals success!

þ  Preparation: Literature evangelists must be lifelong students.
o   “One worker who has been trained and educated for the work, who is controlled by the Spirit of Christ, will accomplish far more than ten laborers who go out deficient in knowledge, and weak in the faith.” ~Ellen White, Review and Herald, May 29, 1888 par. 8

o   “Those who desire a fixed amount to do and a fixed salary, and who wish to prove an exact fit without the trouble of adaptation or training, are not the ones whom God calls to work in His cause” EW, Ministry of Healing, p. 499
