NAKED KNOCKING?!
Pastor S.H. O’nuff was out visiting missing members and came upon a house, where the member was obviously at home. Lights, TV, and radio were all turned on. Windows were open and the pastor’s salivary glands were stimulated by the scent of freshly baked, sweet potato pie.
With tastebuds tingling, the pastor knocked enthusiastically. He knocked again. He rang the doorbell. Then he called through the open window. Feeling snubbed by her neglect and sour about the sweet potato pie that might have been, he decided to leave her a note.
Pastor O’nuff pulled out a business card, wrote “Revelation 3:20” on the back, and left it on her door. When he saw that member at church the following Sabbath, he commended himself for cleverly leaving the card referring to Jesus’ invitation to fellowship that begins with, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock.”
He was humbly amused, however, when she returned the card to him with an additional scripture written on the back. It was Genesis 3:10 :
“I heard thy voice…and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
