LLw $ales þ LisU—Part 2
Experiencing a sales slump?
It could be God’s way of getting you to check yourself.
þ Prayer: Last month’s checklist included prayer for ourselves—that we would be tactful. The importance of this was underscored by Biblical and inspirational quotes (Testimonies, vol. 4, p. 68; Prov. 18:19). This month we’ll look at praying for our contacts.
o You’ll need many of the tools that other salespeople use, but we are not merely salespeople—we’re evangelists. The psychological tools used by people that sell cars, clothes, or even cosmetics are helpful, yet insufficient for our trade.
o Evangelism involves God performing holy lasik surgery. We give people something to look at through precept and example, yet spiritual realities can only be seen through divine intervention (2 Kings 6:15-17; Eph. 1:15-18).
o God’s lasik is necessary to counteract the spiritual blindness unbelievers suffer at the hands of Satan (2 Cor. 4:4). It is impossible for carnal eyes to see the value of your spiritual products (Rom. 8:7; Prov. 4:19; Judges 21:25).
o This is one of the reasons why Colporteur Ministry, p. 81 says, “Humble, fervent prayer would do more in behalf of the circulation of our books than all the expensive embellishments in the world.”
þ Priority: Last time we dealt with priorities, we established that the first priority in our work is to seek the kingdom of heaven. Another priority LEs need to practice is work outside before inside:
o “Prepare your outside work, make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house” Prov. 24:27, NKJV.
o It’s been said that chores are what you do at home, while work is what you do when you leave home.
o Sales will slump and souls will starve if you let chores overtake your work time.
o LEs must be their own taskmasters and grab themselves by the scruff of the neck to go to work!
o When working a 9-5, you have to take care of home before or after 9-5—not during. You must apply this to the work of God as well.
