Your Lucky Day 4 Prospecting: Pastor Mac's Definition & Prescription

My simple definition of prospecting is: Actively seeking, meeting and greeting new customers that will benefit from your goods and services--as well as rethinking, revising, and even reinventing your goods and services to benefit existing customers in new ways that creates a desire within them to purchase additional products and services from you.  Remember that your best prospect for future sales is
a well-pleased customer.

I emphasized actively above, because some salespeople have the delusional expectation that if they have something good to offer, then all they have to do is sit back and wait for customers to seek them out.  Such an approach will soon prove that passivity and sales success are mutually exclusive.

You probably won't have a lucky day by collecting four-leaf clovers while following a leprechaun to the end of the rainbow, hoping he will share his pot of gold with you.  The odds are about the same that you'll be lucky enough to sit at home waiting on people to beat down your door because they heard you have some good books.

As Seneca (Roman philosopher) said long ago, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." You must search for and create opportunity rather than wait for it to knock at your door.  Better yet, try this 2 step approach to making today your "lucky" day:
1. Prepare yourself through prayer, product knowledge, and the study of human nature.
2. Rename yourself "Opportunity" and knock on someone else's door!

Good Luck!
