FIRST THINGS FIRST
You can't run a race without first tying your shoes

You can't solve a mystery without investigating the clues
You won't travel far with the cart before the horse

And to be a South Atlantic LE you must complete the LMA course

I know God’s called you to finish the work

And you’re in a hurry ‘cause the world's gone berserk

But zeal without knowledge leads to fanaticism and fear,

Causing skeptics to sneer and the devil to cheer

You must know all parts of your weapon before the Army lets you shoot

You must conquer the enemy before collecting the loot

A sharp sickle cuts with much more ease

So make the most of your preparation please

Let the Lord sharpen your focus and grind away your flaws

Learn to trace your prospect’s concerns from effect to cause

The Lord will wield you in gathering His harvest

But in every noble work there are prerequisites

So just as a paperboy must first learn his route

The literature evangelist must not begin to pout

When called upon to intensively study the art

Of applying the gospel to another human heart

Don’t waste your time anxiously wondering what’s next

When you haven’t yet completed your text

First things first is a key to success
