“An honor in Literature Evangelism? When did they add that honor?”
Many are surprised to learn the answer is 1928! Though Literature Evangelism, or Colporteur Ministry, has been around for a long time it is sometimes viewed as outdated and ineffective. What better year than 2011, “The Year of Revival and Reformation,” for this ministry to experience a surge of youthful enthusiasm through the ranks of the Pathfinders?

A historic revival of youth outreach is what we had at the SAC 2011 Camporee in Orangeburg, SC as 26 Pathfinders, TLTs, MITs and Master Guides distributed 272 life-transforming books and raised $452 en route to earning their honor. Many others now look forward to signing up for the honor that pays participants as they learn evangelistic principles.
The Publishing Department is grateful for the interdepartmental vision of two consecutive SAC Youth Directors, Elders Stephen Brooks and Patrick Carter. Of course, nothing would have happened without Pathfinder leadership at various levels putting boots on the ground. Especially noteworthy were William and Terrilyn Cameron, Kelvin Paxton, Lavunda Martin, Luwanna McCoy, Olive Sease, Charles Parker, and Angela Wakefield.
They began laying the foundation for this occasion to occur last year by carving out time from ambitious agendas, loaning an ill-prepared Publishing Director comfortable bedding when we camped in the mountains, providing organizational support and supervision assistance in the field, and so much more. Additional appreciation of Todd Bliss must be mentioned for his untiring effort to capture all the activities of the 2011 Camporee on his camera.
Much has been said about what our army of youth can do when they’re rightly trained. Let us continue to support those who dedicate their time, expertise, and money to training this army. Please pray for the continued partnership between Pathfinders and Publishing as we fulfill our aim of getting “The Advent message to all the world in this generation!”
